Fire adds to Buskers carnival atmosphere

We were out for our nearly nightly stroll through Uptown Waterloo when we happened upon the barricades. We thought it was the Busker’s Carnival but it was the aftermath of a fire at ish and chips, a popular uptown eatery.

The fire started just after 3pm on Thursday afternoon. The fire marshal still doesn’t know the cause.

The damage is estimated to be about a half million dollars.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a fire in Uptown Waterloo. It was quite the spectacle.

We found a new shortcut, an alley through a parking lot and between two buildings from Regina Street to King Street.

The midway and the Buskers Carnival looks to be drawing record crowds. It’s quite the spectacle too.
