Housing starts are a key indicator of an area’s economic health. The good news is that the year-to-date starts are at the highest level since 2005.
New apartment construction, single-family homes and townhouses are all above last year’s numbers. Specifically, there were 1,856 housing starts during the first seven months of this year compared to 1,091 in 2009.
