Graffiti update – Kitchener gets a voluntary spring cleaning.

poet walking past graffitiOn Monday night, volunteers from several neighborhood associations teamed up to deal with the graffiti problem in downtown Kitchener. There was graffiti on nearly every corner in the downtown core.

The city is trying to curb the problem through enacting a new bylaw giving more discretion to bylaw officers to require property owners to clean up offensive and hateful vandalism more quickly. Over six hundred cases of graffiti were reported last year.
